Tips for Washing Denims

Denim Jeans or jackets never ran out of style in the world of fashion. I bet everyone has their own pair of Denim Jeans. Choose jeans that are conventional, flexible and functional to wear. Our denims and our clothes need special attention and care. Washing your favourite pair of denims with care will last for several years.

To keep your purchased jeans and jackets in perfect condition, here are some useful tips on how to wash and care for your denims.

Washing

The most recommended way to wash your denims is through hand-wash. If you have plenty of time to spare in your laundry, make an effort to hand-wash your denims. This will prevent your jeans to stretch out, loosen or fade. When you hand wash your jeans, be keen on the hem lining. Dirt and dust stays in the hem line which make them visible. Use a good quality detergent soap and gently brush the cloth.

For busy people, you can also wash your favourite pair of denim in washing machines. Use tap or cold water and spin it under short cycles. It is highly recommended to reverse your jeans inside out before spinning. This will prevent any damage or breakage in your clothes.

When washing your clothes, make it a point to separate dark colors from bright ones. This will prevent your clothes and denims to smear colors. Never use bleach on your denims! This will severely cause damage and will make them fade out. To make your clothes softer and smell nice, try to rinse them using a fabric conditioner.

Removing Stains

Removing stains from your jeans and clothes are easy. For mud stains, soaked the stained part under luke warm water with soap for about 15 minutes. Gently brush the affected area with your hands or a soft bristle brush to remove stain. Rinse and take it for a spin.

For grass or food stains, using alcohol, vinegar or even beer is useful for removing stains. Pour solution in the affected area and wait for five minutes. Gently brush the area using your hand or thumb. Wash and rinse using cold water and soap.

For dirty chewing gums, you could easily remove them by applying cold compress to the gum. The stuck gum will become frozen and can be easily removed.

After Washing

It is advisable to dry jeans under the sunlight or air-dry them. This will give them a fresh crisp scent which you will surely love. If air-drying them is not applicable, use a dryer and configure it at the lowest setting. This will prevent any damages from your drying making it look new and robust.
